Apostles Student Ministry

Apostles Anglican Church Student Ministry is the place for middle and high school students to come together for worship, and spiritual formation. It is about relationships. As we are spiritually formed to be image bearers of God, we learn to relate to another as the Trinity relates with us. It’s a place for good conversation, reading the Word, and discovering how to make space to experience the presence of God in our lives. It is also a place to discover God through the discipline of play. What better way is there to learn to trust and be honest with others than to recreate (re-create) together?

There will different schedules and events based on the season and the school and church calendar, so be sure to check the announcements, this site for events and gatherings.

Current student events for Spring 2012:

 Live @ Five

Sunday evening’s at 5pm there is a time for our Middle and High school students to gather at David’s house for food, worship, and relationship building. The schedule may vary given the season of the church calendar, but there will be announcements in church and on the website for any special events or changes. We will study the Word, pray, and talk about what our lives look like as we explore being shaped by God to be His people. Spiritual formation, learning how to pray and love well, and live as image bearers of God in relationship with one another is part of learning a lifestyle of worship. If you are coming for Live @ Five, please call David (228-4583) by 3pm so that we may arrange for the  food.

Shared Experiences

Building relationship with each other as we play, learn and serve is key in learning to trust God and love and serve others. We will have special events where we hang out and play. We may play Ultimate or frisbee golf, go to the movies, a ball game, or head to the mountains for hikes and some camping. We’ll also go and serve others in mission throughout the year.

Mission For The Sake of Others

Student ministry at Apostles is also committed to reaching out to students in Knoxville with the Gospel. We have partnered with Young Life at West High School for three years and that mission continues as David leads the Young Life team at the L&N STEM Academy, Knoxville’s newest high school and new Young Life Club. Each week leaders go into the high school world to build relationships and share the good news about God’s love for them.

If you are interested in volunteering to lead, mentor, and disciple students at Apostles, please contact David Freels or Kathleen Bullock.
